The Premier martingale style collar is not designed to choke your dog! Martingale style collars should be fitted to the exact size of the dog’s neck when the collar is pulled tight; they are designed to stay snug around the dog’s neck when pressure is applied to reduce the risk of dog’s escaping.
When a standard buckle collar is adjusted to the comfort of your dog, many breeds can back out of the collar and escape if suddenly frightened leaving you with an empty collar dangling at the end of your leash! When fitted more snugly, a buckle collar is often uncomfortable and rubs producing bald spots or matting of the dog’s coat.
The adjustable fit of the Premier Martingale Collar means that every dog gets a custom fit, great for growing pups or dogs with seasonal coat changes.
The Premier Martingale Style Collar is also invaluable for dogs that dislike you putting their collar on, once these collars have been adjusted they simply slip over the dogs head making it a more comfortable experience for all concerned.
The Premier Martingale style collar comes in 5 adjustable sizes to fit any dog.
Unlike other collars, the measurement taken for the Premier Collar is at the top of the neck, directly behind the ears. This corresponds with the size of the collar in the closed position, so it is not necessary to “add inches.” For example, if you adult dog measures 14” directly behind the ears, choose a medium collar.
|Petite||3/8"||5" to 8"|
|Small||3/4"||8" to 12"|
|Medium||3/4"||10" to 16"|
|Large||1"||14" to 20"|
Once you have selected the proper size, simply place the larger opening over your dog’s head. Adjust to fit by pushing the nylon through the slide. When tightened with a leash or by grasping the smaller nylon loop like a handle, the two metal rings should touch directly behind your dog’s ears. Attach tags to these rings rather than the D-ring. The small nylon loop will lie flat after a few days of wear.
