As we find it hard to retain heat, dogs find it hard to release body heat, making them more likely to suffer heatstroke than us. This cooling neck collar a comfortable and safe way to combat them overheating. It’s suitable to use in the home or on the go.
Preventing Heat Stroke
Overweight dogs and squashed nose breads are most at risk of heat stroke. During hot or humid weather conditions we need to provide them with plenty of shade and access to cool, fresh water. We should only walk them first thing in the morning and late afternoon, when it is a little cooler. Never leave them shut inside a hot car, even with the window open.
Signs of heatstroke can be excessive panting, sluggishness, loss of coordination, in some cases vomiting or diarrhoea can occur. If you suspect heatstroke in your dog try to get them to drink, but do not force them, trickle water over the head and back, and place wet towels over them. In severe cases take them to the vet, keeping cool on route.
